Residential Spotlight: Tracy Puckett

As the most experienced residential solar installation team in Nevada, Bombard Renewable Energy is focused on providing property owners with energy savings. With over 35 years of experience, we’re proud to offer the most reliable and affordable solar products available.

Wondering what the solar panel installation process is like for homeowners? We (BRE) recently talked to Tracy Puckett (TP), one of our residential clients, about what her solar home experience has been like. Read on to see what she had to say.

BRE: Can you tell us about yourself and why you were interested in solar energy?

TP: I live in one of the sunniest places in America – Las Vegas, Nevada. When I have flown over the city, I’m amazed to see how few houses have solar panels when we could produce enough clean energy to power half of America if we all had them. I have always believed in clean energy. I remember trying to convince my mom to put solar on our house in Indiana back in the seventies. She didn’t, but at least we had the conversation and went to a few meetings about it way back when. The costs were prohibitive at the time and the technology just wasn’t there yet.  I never lost that dream.

BRE: Can you tell us a little bit about why you made your home a solar home?

TP: A few years ago, I started exploring my options for solar installation at my home. I talked to quite a few providers and people who had installed solar panels on their home. My landscaper and I talked a lot about it as he had put them on his home. He introduced me to Bombard Renewable Energy. When I went online to investigate them, I was really impressed with their experience.

At that time, I was also starting to fuse glass at home in my kiln, which uses a ton of electricity. Glass is a poor conductor of heat, so the heating up, process time and cool down takes hours to prevent thermal shock. A typical run takes approximately ten hours.

Because I have always believed in the concept of renewable energy (and I hate paying utility bills), I decided to go for solar on my roof.  The Federal government’s tax incentive program also helped in my decision.

BRE: What was your solar panel installation process like?

TP: From the first visit to the final NV Energy and City of Las Vegas approval the process was incredibly smooth. The folks from Bombard were amazing! They basically just took me by the hand and guided me. Deidre came over and explained the entire process to me before anything started happening. The installers were great! Michael, Tina, and the crew were fun, professional, neat, and informative. I don’t remember exactly how long it took (not long), but it was basically hassle free. I had fun learning more about the whole solar energy world, and seeing the panels up close and personal was very interesting. The inverter is small and unobtrusive and sits just above the kiln, so I see it frequently, but it takes no space.

BRE: What has surprised you the most about renewable energy since making the switch?

TP: Last summer was one of the hottest on record here in Las Vegas with weeks and weeks of temperatures over 105 degrees. It was also one of my busiest summers for the kiln as I decided to try wholesale sales. I had many orders to fulfill in June and July which required me to run the kiln three to four times a week while the air conditioners were running non-stop. My animals and I were comfortable and my electricity bills were unbelievably low. Those low bills really helped my fused glass business’ bottom line. Without solar, my electricity bills would have been three to four times what they were. I love it!

BRE: What advice do you have for homeowners who are on the fence about using solar?

TP: Do it! I have absolutely no regrets. Renewable energy is the way of the future. There is no reason to continue to pollute our air and water and ruin our environment relying on fossil fuels when we have affordable, clean energy available to us.

BRE: How has your experience with Bombard residential solar energy been?

TP: As I said earlier, Bombard has been amazing. They continue to be amazing. When the Nevada legislature changed policy on Net Metering rates, Bombard reached out to me to help me make the best decision on my net metering rate. This was two years after the installation. They didn’t have to do that for their customers, but it shows that they don’t just want your business for the installation and then they’re off to the next contract. They are committed for the long run with their customers. I am now friends with all of the people who worked with me on the decision to the installation. Bombard has the best product and the best people!

At Bombard Renewable Energy, we know we wouldn’t be where we are today without our amazing clients. It’s people like Tracy that help us stay motivated to keep encouraging others – like you – to consider investing in renewable energy.
